There’s a deal on the table, and it’s big.
$30,000.
So you’ve spent 6 months devoting a lot of time and energy toward it.
Let’s say the signing date is March 30.
And on March 29 you get a call…
“We’re pulling the plug. There’s been a change of heart. Management no longer wants to continue.”
Poof.
That’s $30,000 just gone.
Vanished.
Out of existence forever.
Not to mention the 6 months of time, preparation, and mental energy wasted.
This is a true story, by the way.
It happened to a friend of mine.
We were discussing it, and he was telling me this story, and I was frustrated for him.
Because that’s a lot of money and wasted effort.
But then I realized… I was getting WAY more frustrated than he was.
He was very calm. “It’s okay,” he told me. “These things happen in business. This is not a big deal.”
So I asked, “How do you do that? How do you stay in that very calm frame when someone rips a deal out from under you at a moment’s notice?”
Here’s what he said:
