Why We Lose Deals

Here’s a hard truth for us consultants: you’re going to lose more deals than you close.

And this is going to sound harsher, but get over it.

Now there’s a bit of tough love at play here…

Because if every time you lose a deal, you get all depressed and question your existence…

And ask self-sabotaging questions like:

“Do I have what it takes to run a business?”

“Everybody hates me, like how come nobody likes me?”

“Is this all 1 big pipe dream?”

If that’s your initial response, then it’s going to be a real hard to close the deals you want.

Now rarely anyone talks about this but…

When a client says they don’t want to work with you, that is not an indictment against you as a human being.

There are all kinds of reasons they might not want to work with you.

It could be the timing, the offer, the price…

…or any number of things that have anything to do with you, your expertise or your character.

You should let this simple fact sink in:

You’re going to lose more deals. That’s just the nature of the game. But get this…

The faster you over the losses, the faster you get to the wins. Makes sense?
