Random lessons from my escapades through Toronto airport and US customs:
[1] suspend judgement and trust the experts
The airport kiosks NEVER let me check in.
I was running late so I thought I’d give it a shot after seeing the check in assistance line up.
It didn’t work, no surprise.
Then an attendant comes by and insists on trying again.
I’m positive it won’t work because I just tried.
Lo and behold, it works.
Turns out theres no middle name on my ticket, but there is one on my passport.
Easy problem to fix if you know how to work the system.
[2] the past is a poor predictor of the future
See above.
Just because it didn’t work before…
Doesn’t mean it can never work.
[3] no one really knows what consultants do
Customs Officer: “what do you do”
Me: “I’m a consultant”
Customs Officer: “what does that mean”
