// Powerful Lesson on Persuasion from the Owner of My Local Bike Shop //
I recently bought a new mountain bike (Rocky Mountain Fusion 40 for my fellow MTB’ers).
When I was first shopping around, I went into my local bike shop to get some advice from the owner.
He told me what to look for, what to research and narrowed the scope of the bikes I should be looking at.
A few months later, I was back ready to make a purchase.
The bike he recommended cost $1,300.
I did some Googling and found the exact same bike at another shop, 30 mins away, for $900.
I went back to the local bike shop to see what he could do on the price.
We landed on $1,100 and I bought the bike from the local shop.
Why would I pay a $200 premium for the exact same bike?
(they both came from the same manufacturer, had the same specs, and were identical)
