I’d never joined a “real” mastermind group before.
So when my friend Liston Witherill floated the idea, I jumped on it. We just had our very first meeting.
Although it’s still early, I’m already starting to see the benefits.
#1 – CHECKING ASSUMPTIONS
I said something on our call that I was immediately called out on.
Turns out, I was carrying around an unvalidated assumption about my business and I didn’t even realize it.
All I had to do was verbalize my assumption to the group and they immediately stomped all over it.
Ouch.
#2 – SETTING PRIORITIES
A common problem among entrepreneurs is having too many ideas and not enough time.
Setting priorities and saying no to good ideas, even though they’re good ideas, is easier said than done.
That’s where having a group of people who are at an arm’s length from your business help you set priorities is invaluable.
#3 – BEING ACCOUNTABLE
This is perhaps the biggest one.
In four weeks, I have to talk to my mastermind partners again.
And if I don’t show progress, I’m going to look like an idiot.
It’s amazing how motivating “not looking like an idiot” can be.
