Ever tell yourself scary stories?
A ton of consultants trap themselves in a terrifying loop of self-inflicted horror stories.
I’ve talked to dozens, if not hundreds, of them…
Way too many are telling themselves things like:
– “I’m too young or too old to really succeed as a consultant.”
– “It’s not the right time for me to invest more into the firm…”
– “I need to get more experience before I can raise my prices!”
– “Client won’t buy from me because of xyz…”
Worse:
They’re right.
Young consultants who say they can’t find clients because of their age… struggle to get clients to take them seriously.
Timid consultants who tell themselves “it’s not the right time…” watch the months drag on without seeing any real results.
Older consultants who think it’s too late to make a change… never make a change
It’s horror story after horror story.
And they’re doing it to themselves.
For example…
Age is just a number, but we attach a story to it. (“I’m too young / old”).
Experience is a relative, but we tell ourselves we need MORE before we can raise our prices.
Etc, etc.
Now sure, maybe you’re only 21 and just starting out.
Maybe you’re 60 and you’re preparing to make the leap to $1m+.
But the numbers themselves are meaningless.
It’s all about the STORY we attach to them.
The stories we tell ourselves tend to come true.
Here’s what I mean:
